Memorable Running Man Games

ONE_Running-Man_Credit-to-ONEAs most of you already know, Running Man is a really popular Variety Show that could captivate a lot of Korean fans. One of the charms of Running Man is the diverse kinds of games that are played by the members. For me, these kinds of games were not familiar at first, so they look unique and interesting to me when I first saw them. Some of these games have such brilliant ideas that I couldn’t even come up with. The other games are simple, but could turn out to be really funny when played by the Running Man members. So, let’s look at them.

1. Name Tag Ripping

And here it is the s5 Reasons Running Man Nametag Ripping is Awesome (5)ignature game of Running Man, Name Tag Ripping! If you have watched Running Man before, you must already know about this game because most of Running Man episodes always have this game. Basically there’s a name tag behind everyone’s back and you have to guard your own name tag so it doesn’t get ripped while trying to eliminate other people by ripping their name tag. This game could be really fun because there can be so many variations to play this game. In Running Man especially, this game is a lot more fun because there are betrayals, surprise, and unexpected things that could happen. They also played several variations of this game, like when they played it in team and when it was one-versus-everyone kind of nametag ripping. So, I think it was obviously a memorable game in Running Man.

2. Ddakji

ddakji-06Here is another game that is played a lot in Running Man that they even held a tournament for this. It is Ddakji! For you who don’t know what ddakji is, it is a square folded paper that is played by throwing it onto another ddakji to make that ddakji flip once. This game was actually played by Korean children a lot and it became one of Running Man’s trademark game. It started as a normal game in Running Man, but it became so popular that they keep playing it again and again. Now, it has become a memorable Running Man game for me since it could be really fun. Watching them played ddakji could be compared to watching fifa world cup match because it can be really thrilling. Also, if you want to try playing it, you could make them yourself by watching this video. It’s really simple and fun to play with other people. Have fun playing it!

3. Photo Zone

This is totally hilarious! Photo zonepeaceful-gary is one of my favorite Running Man games ever. It succeeded in making me laugh until my stomach hurt for several times. The members basically have to be in a picture that the crew takes. Their face must be clearly in that picture and not blocked by anything in order to succeed this game. Sometimes, they have to push each other aside and jump like crazy to be in the photo. This game was played a lot in early episodes of Running Man. These days, they rarely play this game, but I hope they will play it again in future episodes.

4. Quiz Games

20120724_Runningman_facesThis is another game that was played a lot in Running Man. It’s like a normal quiz where the members have to answer the question. There were usually punishments if the answer is wrong, like being air-blown by the microphone, thrown into a pool, etc. What makes this game funny is the fact that the members give unexpected and silly answers when they don’t know the real answers. It is a lot of fun to watch since there are also a lot of variations that could be added to this game.

5. Wrestling (Ssireum)

Wrestling (ssireum) is actually oneRM113-00257 of Korean traditional games. It kind of resembles Sumo, but has certain differences to it. Kim Jong Kook is the king of this game since he almost always wins when wrestling with other Running Man members. Yoo Jae Suk has met a lot of his embarrassing moments by being tortured by Kim Jong Kook in this game. Since it is also played a lot in the past, I think it’s one of the most memorable game in Running Man.

Those are the games that are most memorable in Running Man in my opinion. I don’t remember all of the games in Running Man, so there might be some that I missed. Perhaps I will write more of it later when I remember other games that I think are memorable. And you might also have different opinions about which games are most memorable to you, so please let me know in the comment which games those are. See you!

Roommate, a Variety Show that Finally Brought Me Back Again!

olaysu

Korea has a lot of variety shows that vary greatly in themes and concepts. Some of them are good, the others are not-so-good, and there are a couple of them which are exceptionally good. Most of you must already know about Running Man, Infinite Challenge, etc. Those are variety shows which are exceptionally good and always fun to watch.

To be honest, I kinda lost my interest in most variety shows some time ago. I stopped watching variety shows like We Got Married, Happy Together, and Gag Concert at that time. The only variety shows left which I still watched at that time were Running Man and some Infinite Challenge. The reason I stopped watching those was not because they aren’t good anymore, but it was because I had less time to watch Korean variety shows as my studies got busier. So, I kinda had to choose which shows I was going to watch and I chose Running Man because it was the funniest compared to the others. After some time I gradually lost interest in other shows. Even when there was a new variety show, I didn’t even try to watch it.

After my studies got less busy (which is just recently), I wanted to watch something again. I accidentally found Roommate, a new variety show. The concept of the show is to gather several people who want to share a house together and make them live together as a family. I personally think the concept is really great and it immediately caught my attention. After watching several episodes of it, I became totally addicted. The show itself isn’t exceptionally funny, but it’s interesting to see how the family members interact with each other. The members have different personalities and that’s why there’s always something interesting that could happen in the house. The members that you might know are Lee Dong Wook, 2NE1 Park Bom, Orange Caramel Nana, EXO Chan Yeol and by the way, my favorite member is Song Ga Yeon, the female MMA fighter. ^^

So, after I watched Roommate, I think it’s time for me to come back to Korean world again! I think it’s also the reason why I’m continuing writing on this blog again, even though I’ve left it for quite a long time. Also, I really advise you guys who like variety shows to watch Roommate since it’s a really good show. Okay then, see you again next time!

Bokbulbok Game Special Part 2!

Hi again, guys. Like I promised before, now I’m gonna continue the unfinished list of Bokbulbok games in Korean Variety shows. If you want to read the first part, go here. Well, let’s begin.

7. Di-Bi-Di-Bi-Dip (Cham Cham Cham)
It’s known in 1 Night 2 Days as Di-Bi-Di-Bi-Dip, and also known as Cham Cham Cham in other places. This game is to be played by 2 people, one as the attacker and one as the defender. So, the point of this game is that the attacker will say the incantation (Di-Bi-Di-Bi-Dip or Cham Cham Cham, just choose one you prefer more) while having his hand in front of the defender’s face. Right after the incantation is finished (it is when the attacker says “-Dip” or “-Cham” for the third time), the attacker has to turn his hand to the left or right and the defender has to turn his head the opposite way. If the defender turns the same way as the attacker’s hand, then the defender lose. Usually, people play it with a punishment if you lose. In some variety shows, they usually have a rubber hammer as the weapon. So, the one who lose will get hit by that hammer. Look at this video for examples.

8. Chicken Fight
It’s not the actual chicken who fight, but people standing like a chicken to fight. It is usually played by 2 people one-on-one, although I’ve seen a game where a lot of people play this. So, the player has to stand only on one feet while the other leg is bent backward and held by hands. Those two players (or more) need to make the opponent fall by using their bodies to push the other guy. The one who still stands after the fight is the winner. It’s a simple game, but try not to hurt your opponent. Look here for references.

9. Elephant Spin
It’s actually not a game, but kinda like a preparation for games. Elephant spin is the stance where one of your hand, let’s say your left hand, is on your nose and the right hand is crossed between your left hand (see the picture above for the actual pose). You then start spinning for a number of times and do the games after that. This is usually done when there is a race game where you have to run from the start to finish, or something like that. This makes you feel really dizzy that most of the times you will not be able to go straight while running. Sometimes, the players also fall due to the dizziness. It’s a really good way to make race game interesting since it will be funny. Look at this video for reference.

10. Mulitiplication
The game of multiplication is unexpectedly popular in Korean variety shows. It’s actually a simple game where you have to answer the multiplication result of 2 numbers from 1 to 10. It’s usually played by 2 people, facing against each other. The first person say 2 numbers and the second person need to multiply those 2 numbers and answer it. If the answer is right, they change turns and the first person need to answer. The first one who fail to answer is the loser. There’s a clip from Invincible Youth of Korean version of this game (no subtitle though) here. Just look at the numbers on screen. I’m sure you’ll understand it.

11. Sadari Game (Ladder Game)
It’s a game usually played by 1 Night 2 Days members when they want to decide on something. This game is purely based on luck. So, you need to have a piece of paper and make a ladder maze like this picture. The number of vertical line is the same as the number of players. You then put all the players’ names on top of the picture, each vertical line for each person. On the bottom of the vertical line, you put the punishments or prizes or anything that you want to do, one for each vertical line. The game is played simply by tracing the line from top to bottom, but you need make a turn everytime there is a fork in the way. When you finally arrive to the bottom, you get to do what is written on there. Look here for a better understanding.

12. Palm Pushing
Sorry if the name is too lame. I don’t know the real name of this game, I just watched a lot of it played in shows. So, it’s played by 2 people facing each other with distance around half a meter (around 20 inch). The players need to make the opponent move from his standing position only using his palm against the opponent’s palm. You can push the your opponent’s palm with yours as strong as you can to make him fall, or you can trick him by pretending to push, anything will do. It might be better if you see this video to understand more.

13. Charade
This is the last bokbulbok game that I’ll share with you and you probably have heard of this one. This became popular not because of Korean variety shows, rather it’s been popular from long ago. I have played it with friends when there was a gathering before. Well, it was a fine game, but not as funny as when I watched it in variety shows. In variety shows, they make it look really interesting and funny that it can even make you laugh until your stomach hurts, expecially on 1 Night 2 Days. So, you need to explain a word or a sentence to the guessers with your body only. You have to flap your hands like wings to explain ‘a bird’, for example. This might be an old game, but it might become really interesting depending on what to explain. This is a clip from 1N2D where they played this game.

Wow, that’s also a lot. I didn’t think it would take this much time until I wrote it. Anyway, I hope you’re satisfied with those games and I also hope you can play them sometimes to have fun. Tomorrow is already the end of my holiday, so I don’t think I can write often in the future. But, if there is something I want to share, I’ll try to make a time to write here. Well, see you next time!

Bokbulbok Game Special!

This holiday has been quite a boring but relaxing days. I get to watch a lot of shows, do a lot of things, etc. If only I had gone on a trip somewhere, it would be perfect.. *sigh*

Anyway, since my holiday is gonna end soon, I think I will keep my promise about sharing these bokbulbok games I know. Basically, bokbulbok games are those kind of games where you play to decide the winner and the winner gets something for winning the game. It becomes popular because of the show 1 Night 2 Days. Read here if you don’t know what bokbulbok is. Well, I really hope this isn’t gonna be my last writing this year since I’ll probably be busy with my college. Let’s just pray for it.

So, here we go.

1. Rock, Paper, Scissors (Kawi, Bawi, Bo in Korean)
Probably the most familiar bokbulbok game. You also play it sometimes right? I could say in every episode of 1 Night 2 Days, there should be at least one time where the members play this game. This is a really simple game where rock beats scissors, scissors beat paper, and paper beats rock. Here, Kawi means scissors, Bawi means paper, and Bo means rock. Nothing new, just the usual game you play. Let’s just look at the next one.

2. Muk, Jji, Bba
It is another version of rock, paper, scissors with a different rule. Here, ‘Muk’ means rock, ‘Jji’ means scissors, and ‘Bba’ means paper. The order of winning is the same, rock beats scissors, scissors beat paper, and paper beats rock. The difference is you need to make your enemy play the same sign as you while it’s your turn to play. The first time, you just do the usual rock, paper, scissors. Let’s say A and B are playing. A uses scissors and B uses paper. So, it’s A who will go first. A then say ‘Muk’ while changing his hand to Rock. This time, if B also changes his hand to Rock, then B lose the game. If B stayed at Paper, B gets to do his turn to play because Paper beats Rock. And if B changes to Scissors then it’s still A’s turn to play because Rock beats Scissors. Anyway, it might be a bit confusing. So, look at this video to understand it more.

3. Two Hands Rock, Paper, Scissors
I don’t really know the actual name of this game, so I’ll just call it Two Hands Rock, Paper, Scissors. Like the name says, you do the game with 2 hands. Let’s say again that A and B are playing. A sends out 2 signs, Rock and Paper while B sends out Scissors and Rock. At this moment, you count 1, 2, 3 and push one of your hands forward and pull the other hand backward. So, let’s say A push Rock forward and pull Paper. B push Scissors forward and pull Rock. The game is decided by the hands that was pushed forward. So, in this case A wins with Rock, beating B’s Scissors. It’s quite simple, it only adds a bit of hesitation when you try to decide which hand to push forward.

4. 3-6-9 (Sam Yuk Gu)
It’s a game to be played with a lot of people (3-10) although it could also be played by 2 people or people more than 10 if you want it. So, the game is a counting game where you have to count 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on according to the line of people. It’s best if you make a circle while playing this. The rule is, whenever there is a number 3, 6, or 9, you have to clap your hands. If you speak the number, then you’re eliminated. Also, you have to clap 2 times if you find 33, 36, 39, 66, etc. So, it goes like this “One, two, *clap*, four, five, *clap*, seven, eight, *clap*” and so on. For more details, see this video.
5. Sense Game
This is a game where it should be played by a lot of people, usually more than 3. So, everyone squats on his/her place and gets ready. The rule is, once you hear the ‘start’ command, you have to stand up while shouting the order you stand up. The one that didn’t stand up in the end, or stand up as the last person, lose the game. But, if 2 people stand up at the same time, those two have to do Rock, Paper, Scissors and decide the loser there. So, you have to shout “One” if you’re the first person to stand up and “Two” if there is another person who has stood up before you. But, be careful in case you stand up at the same time with another person since you might lose the game like that. If you still don’t understand the rule, there is a 1 Night 2 Days video cut here where they played this game. Hope it helps.

6. Human Zero Game (In-gan je-ro)
This is an advanced version of Zero Game in Korea. Zero game is a game that you play with your thumbs. You gather some people and they put their hands in front of them. Then, one person outside of those people, let’s say the judge, count to 3 and say a random number from 0 to the number of people playing. The players should decide whether to rise their thumbs up or not. If the number of people who rise their thumbs is the same as the number which the judge said, then those players lose the game. Human Zero is like that, but you changed the way you put your thumbs up to standing up from squating. So, the people playing should squat. Then, when the number is said, they have to decide whether to stand up or not. If the number of people who stand up is the same as the number said, then those people lose. This game is often played by 2 teams. The first team say the number and the second team play the game. If the second team didn’t fail, they change the role and the second team gets to say the number while the first team play the game. They change roles until there is a winner. Just look at this clip if you’re still confused. Well, that clip is in Korean because I can’t find one which is in English. Sorry about that.

Wow, that’s only six and I’ve spend 2 hours working on it. I guess I can’t finish it tonight. But don’t worry, I’ll continue this when I have the time later. There are still some left and you might like those. So, please wait for the next part. I hope you’re happy with this one. Until next time!

Secret Sunhwa in We Got Married?

Do you know the show We Got Married? It’s a show where a male idol and a female idol appear together as a wife-husband couple. Of course they’re not really married. It’s just a show after all. Lol. The current show has 3 couples in it, Super Junior Leeteuk & Kang Sora couple, Lee Jangwoo & T-ara Eunjung couple, and Julian Kang & Yoon Se-ah couple. Anyway, it’s not a big deal but, do you remember I recently wrote about Invincible Youth? Secret Sunhwa was a member of the first season of that show and she was a really unique one. She had a nickname “White Paper Sunhwa” because her brain is empty like a white paper.

And now, she appeared again in variety show after some time. Moreover, Sunhwa will be coupled in We Got Married with ZE:A Kwanghee who is famous for his funny appearance in variety shows. I know it’s not a big deal at all, not for you at least. But, it’s just a bit shocking for me since I knew Sunhwa quite well, and I watches We Got Married regularly, and now she appears in this show! I think this couple will be a funny couple and I expect a lot of laughs watching this later. Well, I’m sorry if it’s not a really helpful information today. I just want to let you guys know about this show more since it’s a good one. And I hope some of you will try to watch it and find it interesting. ^^

There’s not too much today but I hope you enjoyed it. See ya.

Variety Shows with Beautiful Idols!

Maybe you’re wondering why today’s title is about variety show again. Well, I thought that I’ll just make this week a “Variety Show Special” week since I have a lot to write about it. Please just bear with it. 😛

Anyway, today’s about beautiful girls in variety shows! Usually, variety shows are consisted of one or two female members, and the rests are guys. Let’s look at Running Man which only has Song Jihyo as the female member. Worse, 1 Night 2 Days and Infinite Challenge even don’t have any female members. Those shows are funny, but sometimes you need to see some female idols too, right? So, here I’ll share my knowledge about some shows which has a lot of female members, especially for those who didn’t know about these shows before.

The first one is, the most popular one of its kind, Invincible Youth. I’m sure some of you have known this show since it’s quite popular. So, this is a show where female idols from different girl groups experience the life of farmer. So, they shoot on a countryside, where they tend the animals, grow plants, do chores, etc. Actually, there are 2 seasons of this show. The first season focus more on the concept, where the members really do the farmers’ chores, take care of the fields, etc. So, in every episode you’ll mostly see the girls doing their works while also doing funny things for the show. Oh yeah, the members of the 1st season are SNSD Sunny and Yuri, 4Minute Hyuna, Kara Goo Hara, T-ara Hyomin, Secret Sunhwa, and Brown Eyed Girls Narsha. The first season is a bit boring at the start, but gets really funny not too long later. I really recommend it to watch.

The 2nd season is still ongoing and feels a bit different than the first. Even though the concept is about experiencing the life of countryside, there are a lot more variety games and less works that the members do. So in my opinion, the main concept has changed a lot from the first season and it doesn’t feel like the old invincible youth. But, it’s still quite funny and worth watching. The original members are SNSD Sunny and Hyoyeon, Kara Jiyoung, Sistar Bora, Jewelry Yewon, Miss A Suzy, f(x) Amber, and Rainbow Woori. Amber and Woori left after some episodes, and the show is left with 6 members. And recently, Sunny also left the show, leaving the 5 members behind. It’s quite sad that the members are leaving while there is no replacement. I really hope KBS will add another girl to make it brighter and funnier. 😦

The third show is SBS Heroes (yeong-ung-ho-geol in Korean). Heroes is a kind of popularity contest of the members while they also experience a lot of things. The concept is like a usual variety show, I guess. They play games, get punishments, etc. While Invincible Youth only has members from girl group singers, Heroes’ members consist of singers, actress, and comedian altogether. So, perhaps you don’t know some of the members at first. But, you’ll start to like them as the show goes on. The members are comedian Shin Bongsun, singer Noh Sayeon, singer Seo Inyoung, T-ara Jiyeon, Kara Nicole, Brown Eyed Girls Narsha, former Fin.K.L Lee Jin, After School Gahee, the cute singer IU, actress Yoo In Na, actress Hong Soo Ah, and actress Jung Gaeun. This show is not too popular outside Korea, and most of you might not know it. But, it’s a really good show and I really like it.

The last, and maybe the most unexpected, is Hello Baby! Am I wrong? No, it’s actually a unique variety show where a boy or girl group has to take care of baby/ies. So, it’s a show for you guys who wants to see beautiful female group idols. There are 3 girl groups, SNSD, T-ara, and Sistar, each having their own show. For the boy groups, I think there are 2, SHINee and MBLAQ. It’s not especially funny, and maybe a bit boring if you don’t like babies. But, you get to know the personality of the members and getting some knowledge about them.

That’s it. I guess that’s all I can share with you. If you have question, feel free to comment. See ya. ^^

Popular Variety Shows Nowadays..

It’s already late in my country, yet I still can’t sleep and I decided to write something. So, I just want to share my thoughts about Variety Show nowadays. Perhaps most of you know Running Man since it’s the most popular variety show now and you also like it, right? That’s the charm of Korean variety show.

Running man is not the only funny and interesting variety show. There are a lot other which are as funny as Running man, or even better. As you may have already known, there are 3 big broadcasting system in Korea. They are SBS, KBS, and MBC. While SBS has Running man as its variety show, KBS and MBC also have their own, too. KBS has 1 Night 2 Days, while MBC has Infinity Challenge. But, it’s true that Running man is the most popular outside Korea. Also, every variety show has its own style and charm which is unique to it. Well, let’s see some of them, then.

Running man has a special concept where you have to compete in order to win something or win the game. I think that’s some of the charm. But, you can’t deny that the one that makes this show interesting is Yoo Jaesuk. It wouldn’t be as popular as now if Yoo Jaesuk isn’t the MC, don’t you think? Also, the characteristics of each member plus the funny games they play can also be considered its charm. Personally, I like how there are usually guests every week. It kinda attract me to watch the next episode every time I see next week’s guest. Expecially when the guest is pretty. ^o^

KBS 1 Night 2 Days (1N2D) is a show where the members go to different places in Korea to see and introduce those beautiful places to the viewers. While that is the main reason of the show, it has its own addictive charm which is Bokbulbok. It literally translates to blessing-curse-blessing (according to wikipedia). It actually refers to any kind of game that the members play to decide upon something, like who gets to eat, who gets to sleep outside, etc. If you watch it, you’ll really get addicted to it and find it really amusing. The MC is Kang Hodong, another great MC who is as good as Yoo Jaesuk and also very funny. You’ll also like him when you watch this. Overall, it’s one of the best show you can watch if you need some laughs.

The last is MBC Infinity Challenge. I actually don’t watch it regularly, not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t have the time. But, I’ve watched some of it and I think it’s kinda like 1N2D where you go to experience a lot of things, playing games, etc except they don’t sleep in at night. Well, CMIIW. The show is also hosted by Yoo Jaesuk, so you should know it must also be funny. Please comment if you have something to add/correct. ^^

Anyway, those are the three most famous variety show according to each broadcasting station. There are a lot other show which are also good to watch like Invincible Youth, Heroes, etc. But, I guess it would be too long and boring if I write all of them here. So, maybe next time. Also, I’m really a fan of bokbulbok and I really want to list all those bokbulbok in the 1N2D show. So, maybe I’ll also write about that next time. Anyway, I hope it was fun reading this one, and if you really want to watch another show beside Running man, I’d suggest those two above (1N2D and Infinity Challenge). See ya.

Invincible Youth is Back!

Do you like watching Korean variety shows? Perhaps you’ve watched some Korean variety shows like Running Man, Family Outing, or any other shows. Well, those shows are really popular even outside Korea. But, have you ever heard of a variety show called Invincible Youth? If you have, you must be one of the luckiest people in the world. Well, not really, I’m just kidding.

Anyway, Invincible Youth was a variety show which aired at KBS2 TV Station in Korea. The main concept of this show is about 7 idol girls who want to learn how to be more capable and independent by working in a village. Those 7 girls are SNSD Yuri, SNSD Sunny, Kara Goo Hara, 4minute Hyunah, Brown Eyed Girls Narsha, T-ara Hyomin, and Secret Sunhwa. Those 7 girls started working in a village called Yoochiri where they learned a lot of things about farming and working in a village. And together with the MC Kim Shinyoung, Kim Taewoo, and the village chief Noh Joohyun, they made a really good variety show called Invincible Youth.

What’s really good about it? If you watched Running Man, or other variety shows where Yoo Jae Suk was MCing, you might think this show is not that entertaining because the only person who is funny in this show is Kim Shinyoung. At first, I was thinking like that, too. But, the main appeal of this show is not about who the MC is. It’s actually the 7 girls themselves. Can idols be funny? Of course! In this show, I realized how funny idols are. I laughed a lot watching this shows and it was so much fun. If you like watching variety shows, and you also like K-Pop idols, I recommend you watching this show. It’s really worth watching.

Well, actually this show has ended some time ago in Korea. It ended because of the busy schedules of the members. But, it has come back again now, the second season! I was really happy when I heard there was gonna be the second season of Invincible Youth. In this second season, there are 8 idol girls who are joining the show. They are SNSD Hyoyeon, Kara Jiyoung, f(x) Amber, miss A Suzy, Sistar Bora, Rainbow Woori, Jewelry Yewon, and last but not the least, SNSD Sunny! That’s right, Sunny is back again in this season. She was the expert of Invincible Youth in the first season, and now she’s joining the team again.

If you watched the first season, I’m sure you really want to watch this second season, too. So, go watch it right now! It’s already the 5th episode! But, if you didn’t watch it before, it’s okay. You can start watching it now and see how interesting this show is.

Okay, guys. It’s time to go. See you next time!

Korea’s Grasshopper is the Most Popular MC

Grasshopper? Isn’t that an insect? Well, not really. It’s actually a nickname of the most famous MC in Korean. If you watched a lot of Korean variety show, you must know who he is. Yes, he is Yoo Jae Suk, the National MC of Korea.

Why grasshopper? Well, that nickname was given to him when he appeared in a show at KBS where he debuted. At that time, he appeared at the show using a grasshopper costume. He even made a dance called grasshopper dance, which resembled how grasshoppers hop. After that he started to be more famous as he hosted a lot of different shows.

So, is he really the most popular MC in Korea? I believe so. And I’m sure most Korean people will agree to that. The reason of that is because every Korea citizen knows him. Am I exaggerating? No, I really mean it. You can go to Korea and ask everyone you meet on the road if they know Yoo Jae Suk. He even got the nickname “National MC of Korea” which tells how popular he is in Korea.

Until now, he has appeared as an MC for some variety shows and talk shows. Most of the shows he hosted were always big hits and well-known in Korea. Some of the variety shows are X-Men, Family Outing, Infinity Challenge, and Running Man. And some of the talk shows he hosted are Come To Play and Happy Together.

Well, what really made him that popular? As you know, variety shows in Korea are usually funny. So, one of the main points that makes a variety show funny is the MC. Jae Suk is known to be a really funny person. He always has a way to make people laugh with his jokes. I eventually like him after watching some of his shows which were always really funny.

But, being funny isn’t the only reason. Korea has a lot of funny MCs other than Jae Suk. So, why is it him? Everyone might have different opinions. But, in my opinion, he became the best MC because he is modest even though he knows he is one of the most famous people in Korea. You can see that from some of his shows, where he usually greets even ordinary people nicely. Also, there was a game in one of Running Man shows that made him couldn’t lie as a lie detector was attached to his body. He was then asked if he thought he is the best MC, even better than MC Kang Ho Dong. He answered no, and the machine showed that he didn’t lie.

Seeing that event, we can tell that it was just a clear proof of his modesty. He doesn’t think high of himself, which makes him approachable by all citizens of Korea. I feel that I’ll be really comfortable being around him because I know that he is really a modest and nice person, but also a really funny person. There are not many people like that in the world. Being modest even when you know you’re already high is a gift that is only given to some people.

Perhaps we aren’t gifted with a heart like Jae Suk’s. But, we can still try to improve ourselves and be more modest. Even though you might not be able to be famous like him, being modest still make people around you like you and feel comfortable around you. You’ll get more friends and be a better person at the same time. So, time to improve yourself and be more modest!

Well, this is the end for now. See you later!

Fansubbers are Also Human…

Recently, I’ve been watching a lot of fansubbing group doing their job. Actually, it’s not really their job because they are not paid for subbing. They are subbing a show because they are a fan. That’s why the are called fansubbers. But, I watched a lot of annoying moments that happened to a subbing group. And sometimes it makes me really annoyed.

There was this one time when a fansubbing group released one of their subbed video. However, they just uploaded a low quality version of the video, even though they usually upload both low and high quality version. As the result, a lot of people complained about how they should have uploaded a better version of it. I was thinking of the same thing. But, I was pretty sure that they were not doing it because they were busy with something. So, I just waited patiently for them to release the better quality version.

However, some people really couln’t be patient. They were demanding the fansubbers harshly to upload the better quality version, even insulting them. And it went on until three day afterwards, when it got worse. Finally, the subber stated that he was having his exam at that time and he didn’t want to abandon his exam because of this matter. So I thought, “Oh, he’s having his exam. Can’t be helped, then”. Those complainers didn’t have the same thought as me, though. They were still demanding it, even saying that they didn’t care he was having an exam or not.

I was really annoyed back then. “Are they crazy or something?” I thought in my mind. I couldn’t really understand why they did that. I thought it was just natural to be considerate with the subbers. But, those people really couldn’t be considerate, even a little bit. All they did was complaining, even when they knew that it was a fansubbing group, not a paid-subbing group. I was in a subbing group before, and I realized it was really not easy to do this job. It takes a lot of time and energy, and you didn’t get paid at all. Basically, all you get is satisfaction over what you really like, which is the show you’re subbing. But, if what all the people do is complaining, how could you be satisfied? I’d think about stop subbing if I were them. And I really don’t want it to happen in this situation because I really like the show they’re subbing.

So, what I want to say is, don’t be selfish. People have their own matters to do, too. It’s not like you own the world or what, so that you can complain and demand all you want. Being patient is not harmful to you. You just have to wait a bit, and eventually it will come to you. Just like fishing, if you can’t be patient, what would you get? Nothing. People who are patient get a lot of fish. And those who are not patient only get the worms back.

That’s it! Hope this can be meaningful to you. Be sure to look forward for the next post!
