Idols Should Also Have the Right to Date

Recently, Wonder Girls Sunye openly announced that she is dating at the moment in SBS Strong Heart. It was quite a shocking announcement to all Wonder Girls‘ fans. There were a lot of reactions about this matter. Some fan even said to her that she is disappointing the fans by revealing the fact that she is dating openly.

Well, as much as I know, idols in Korea usually never reveal if they are dating someone or not. Usually, they just said that they have no boyfriend/girlfriend at that moment. But, sometimes some idols actually lie about that. They might have a boyfriend/girlfriend at the moment when they are asked, but they lie just not to make things bad for their fans and themselves. I can say it because I’ve watched an episode of talk show Win Win where SNSD was the guest, and Ock Juhyun, the former member of girl group Fin.K.L, was a secret guest, too. In that episode, Ock Juhyun said that when she was still in Fin.K.L, all members actually had a boyfriend, even if they said they didn’t in front of the fans. So in the end, some idols actually date secretly behind the fans.

In my opinion, it is natural that idols want to have a boyfriend/girlfriend, too. Of course they also want to date because they are human. So, I don’t really understand why fans disagree with idols in Korea to date openly. In some other countries, idols can date openly and nothing bad comes to them. Their fans still support them and they feel the idols’ happiness, too. So, why not in Korea? I still don’t know and can’t understand.

Perhaps, the main reason why they can’t is because the fans will get jealous. Well, it is a ridiculous reason, but it’s really true. The fans really get jealous even if they have no rights to disallow them to date. If that’s the case, the fans must not date, too because the idols might also get jealous, right? It’s just that simple. But, I’m sure most of the fans would disagree to that. “How can we be not allowed to date?” they will think of it like that. And that’s just the same thought that will come to our idols’ minds. If you ever think about their feeling about this, you’ll understand.

If you look at it with a clear mind, everyone should understand that the fans are supporting the idols and they want the best for their idols. So, if dating is the best for them, why can’t we, as the fans, support them? I myself, as a fan of SNSD, will totally support them if one of the member announced that she is dating someone. That’s what a real fan is, in my opinion, a fan who always supports his idols because I’m happy when they are happy, and I will support them when they are sad.

Well, to conclude it, I just want to say to the fans, whoever their idols are, be considerate about our idols’ feeling. They also have the right to date, not only us. So, if our idols ever announced that they are dating, please support them like we always do because that’s what makes us a true fan.

Invincible Youth is Back!

Do you like watching Korean variety shows? Perhaps you’ve watched some Korean variety shows like Running Man, Family Outing, or any other shows. Well, those shows are really popular even outside Korea. But, have you ever heard of a variety show called Invincible Youth? If you have, you must be one of the luckiest people in the world. Well, not really, I’m just kidding.

Anyway, Invincible Youth was a variety show which aired at KBS2 TV Station in Korea. The main concept of this show is about 7 idol girls who want to learn how to be more capable and independent by working in a village. Those 7 girls are SNSD Yuri, SNSD Sunny, Kara Goo Hara, 4minute Hyunah, Brown Eyed Girls Narsha, T-ara Hyomin, and Secret Sunhwa. Those 7 girls started working in a village called Yoochiri where they learned a lot of things about farming and working in a village. And together with the MC Kim Shinyoung, Kim Taewoo, and the village chief Noh Joohyun, they made a really good variety show called Invincible Youth.

What’s really good about it? If you watched Running Man, or other variety shows where Yoo Jae Suk was MCing, you might think this show is not that entertaining because the only person who is funny in this show is Kim Shinyoung. At first, I was thinking like that, too. But, the main appeal of this show is not about who the MC is. It’s actually the 7 girls themselves. Can idols be funny? Of course! In this show, I realized how funny idols are. I laughed a lot watching this shows and it was so much fun. If you like watching variety shows, and you also like K-Pop idols, I recommend you watching this show. It’s really worth watching.

Well, actually this show has ended some time ago in Korea. It ended because of the busy schedules of the members. But, it has come back again now, the second season! I was really happy when I heard there was gonna be the second season of Invincible Youth. In this second season, there are 8 idol girls who are joining the show. They are SNSD Hyoyeon, Kara Jiyoung, f(x) Amber, miss A Suzy, Sistar Bora, Rainbow Woori, Jewelry Yewon, and last but not the least, SNSD Sunny! That’s right, Sunny is back again in this season. She was the expert of Invincible Youth in the first season, and now she’s joining the team again.
